Awesome Artists: Queens Of The Stone Age

Deviants I’ve been slacking, I haven’t brought you any Awesome Artists for awhile and there’s no excuse for holding out on you like that so I’m here to get things moving steady again for you.

For this new version of Awesome Artists I’ve decided to get things moving steady with a band that many of you are probably already familiar with and if you aren’t then that’s a shame, Queens Of The Stone Age. This is a band that’s been around for awhile now, about two decades, and has been rocking out the entire time. Despite a lineup that has changed over the years there’s never been a doubt that these guys bring a fresh groove and sound with every album they put out and know how to get you jamming. One of their most well known songs is Little Sister which has a driving sound and quick pace that feels aggressive but in all the right ways. Another tune of theirs and the one that really brought this band to the forefront is No One Knows, a song that feels groovy and draws you into whatever crazy world the band illustrates with this strong single. Coming to kick you in the teeth is 3’s & 7’s with it’s in your face start and never back down attitude it’s no wonder that this was featured on a prominent video game (Guitar Hero if you were wondering). Most recently they came out with a little song that reunited them with the always awesome Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) to create a track, My God Is The Sun that epitomized the bands sound of deep thoughts and awesome grooves. My personal favorite of Queens of The Stone Age’s entire classic is a song that’s so smooth and sexy it can’t be listened to just once but demands a repeat hit, Make It Wit Chu.

What’s your favorite Queens Of The Stone Age song, let me know in the comments below and feel free to suggest other bands that I should be featuring here as well. Like always don’t forget to check back for more new material every week and go out and rock my Deviants!
