Awesome Artists: Death From Above 1979

After a couple weeks of intense music listening I’ve crawled my way back to you all to bring the next installment of Awesome Artists. Before I collapse let’s get going.

To get things rocking before the weekend I’ve brought you a band with a strong alternative sound, Death From Above 1979. It’s a duo hailing from the great white north of Canada that’s been on the music scene since the early 2000’s and then disappeared for a number of years due to a breakup before emerging back on the scene in 2011 and dropping another full length album a few years later. This band has a very straight forward sound, with everything driving and hitting you from beginning to end and not messing around with anything funky in between. An early tune of their’s, Blood On Our Hands brought them into the alternative rock spotlight with its hard themes and coming at you sound. That album had a couple of other rock worthy singles come off it before they split for several years. To return to the world the band hit it hard with Trainwreck 1979, coming to the table with a hard rock vibe and in your face attitude. One of the most recent singles of theirs kept that strong, rebellious sound of theirs going with Virgins, the not approved by grandmother single. With a fun, rebellious sound this is a band to check out despite only having a two album library over ten plus years.

What do you think of these guys, let me know in the comments below along with anyone else that you think should be featured here. Just like usual don’t forget to keep checking back for more new material and keep on rocking Deviants!
