Andrew’s Tunes

Hey there Deviants! We have some music for you to check out that is being brought to you from fan favorite and Tenenbaums drummer Andrew! The following is his list of albums that you should give a spin this summer. Prep your ears and enjoy!

N&A

Ten albums to listen to this summer:

A mix of music that’s sure to be a hit at the next barbecue, in no particular order.

  1. Santigold – Santogold
  • It’s hard to pinpoint an exact Santigold style but you’ll hear mixed elements of reggae, pop, hip hop, and rock in her debut album. It’s awesome.

Top tracks: L.E.S Artistes, Shove It, Lights Out

  1. Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
  • An indie work of genius that revolves around the suburban youth. It’s nostalgic and has Arcade Fire’s sumptuous sound.

Top tracks: Modern Man, Month of May, Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

  1. De La Soul – 3 Feet High and Rising
  • De La Soul’s debut album has been listed as one of the best hip hop albums of all time, and after all these years it’s still fresh. Even if you’re not a hip hop fan (myself included) you’ll love these classic summer jams.

Top tracks: The Magic Number, Eye Know, Me Myself and I

  1. Cherry Glazerr – Haxel Princess
  • Haxel Princess was released just last year when 2/3 of the band was still in high school; it’s fun garage rock from a promising California band.

Top tracks: Haxel Princess, Sweaty Faces, Teenage Girl

  1. Habibi- (Self-titled)
  • These rockers blend good ‘ol surf rock with girl group harmonies in a handful of short (yet sweet) tracks.

Top Tracks: I Got the Moves, Sunsets, Sweetest Talk

  1. Discovery- LP

This Vampire Weekend/Ra Ra Riot side project is a wild electronic soundscape. There’s plenty of sounds to listen to in each track, but it’s super easy to dance to LP.

Top Tracks:   Osaka Loop Line, So Insane, Swing Tree

  1. STRFKR –Jupiter

Like LP by Discovery, Jupiter is an all-out dance party. It’s the perfect party album.

Top Tracks: Boy Toy, Biggie Smalls, Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second

  1. Best Coast- Crazy for You

You can’t get any more summer than Crazy for You by Best Coast. Its hazy slacker vibe is the perfect complement to hanging out in the sun.

Top Tracks: Boyfriend, Our Deal, When I’m with You

  1. Wavves – King of the Beach

King of the Beach and Crazy for You get paired up a lot, and mainly because the lead singers of Wavves and Best Coast are dating. But both these albums are practically dating. King of the Beach is just as sunny and strong as Crazy for You.

Top Tracks: King of the Beach, Mickey Mouse, Linus Spacehead

  1. Cults- (Self Titled)

You’re probably familiar with Go Outside, which put Cults on most people’s radars, but not a lot are aware that nearly every song on this album is as strong as Go Outside.

Top Tracks: (While I suggest you listen to each of these albums all the way through…)  Just listen to it all; it’s short and full of sweet do wop rock.
